Avantree Relay Bluetooth transmitter with its charging cable, airplane adapter and carry pouch

Heads up: this post contains affiliate links, and I may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you.

The Avantree Relay Bluetooth connector is a game changer, especially for travel. It plugs into the airplane’s audio and lets you listen with your own wireless earbuds or headphones, so you don’t have to deal with wires.

The best part is that it can pair two Bluetooth devices to the same source at the same time.

Quick take

  • Pairs two Bluetooth devices to the same source, with audio in sync
  • Great battery life. I’ve used one like this for a 20-hour travel trip with no issue
  • No wires dangling in front of your tray table in economy
  • Works beyond planes. I put one on my home TV
  • Comes with a USB-C charging cable, an adapter for old airplanes and a little carry bag

What I liked

Two headphones, one screen

If you’re traveling with a friend, you can both watch the same movie with your audio in sync.

I’ve also paired my earbuds and my over-ear headphones at the same time. My earbuds last about three to four hours before they need to charge, so I can just switch over to the headset and keep going.

It plugs into the seat’s audio jack.

No wires in economy

Flying in economy, you don’t have much space. Having wires dangle in front of you when you need to use the tray table to eat can be pretty frustrating. This takes care of that.

Battery life

I’ve used one like this for a 20-hour travel trip and there was no issue. I’ve used it several times on many different flights and have had no issues.

It works at home too

I actually put one of these on my home TV so I could use two devices to listen to the TV. It can be used with TVs, computers or anything else that has an auxiliary output.

Things to know before you buy

  • It needs charging. It charges over the included USB-C cable.
  • Older planes may need the included airplane adapter.

What I didn’t cover

I didn’t get into pairing steps, range or audio delay in the video, so I’m not covering those here.

Install notes

There’s nothing to install. Plug it into the seat’s audio jack (with the adapter on older planes), pair your headphones and you’re set.

Specs from the Amazon listing

These come from the Amazon listing title. I didn’t test them myself:

  • Avantree Relay airplane Bluetooth adapter for 2 AirPods or headphones

Who it’s for

Good fit if you: fly a lot, travel with someone you want to watch movies with, or want to use two headphones on one TV.

Maybe skip it if you: rarely fly and don’t mind the airline’s wired headphones.

Bottom line

I would recommend this, especially if you’re somebody who travels a lot. It’s an awesome addition to a travel bag.
