Check out this REDTIGER dash cam that I have installed in my truck. It has front and rear cameras, GPS built in, and it suction cups to the windshield.

I’ve had several dash cams, and this is by far my favorite. Here’s what it does well and how I ran the cables in my truck.

Quick take

  • GPS built in, and you can see the GPS antenna
  • Front and rear cameras, and the quality is really good
  • Nice wide screen with a timeout setting so it’s not bright at night
  • Wi-Fi so you can view the content on your phone
  • Cables are nice and long, so the install was really not that bad

What I liked

Video quality and the screen

The dash cam has a nice wide screen, and it has both forward and rearward facing cameras. The quality is really good. The screen has a timeout setting, so you can turn it off and it’s not bright at night.

GPS, Wi-Fi, and loop recording

The GPS works well, and the functionality is good. It connects to Wi-Fi so you can view the content on your phone. Loop recording works well too.

Small rear camera

My rear facing camera is just stuck onto the back window, right up against the glass. That way it stays inside and records out the back of the truck. The camera itself is pretty small, so you can nestle it in.

Things to know before you buy

  • Watch your sliding rear window. If you’re doing it in a truck, watch the direction the back window slides. You don’t want to hit your camera with it. The cables are long enough to leave extra space.
  • It’s a suction cup mount on the windshield.

What I didn’t cover

I didn’t go into the app, the settings, or night footage in this video.

Install notes

The install was really not that bad. I ran the power cable and the rear camera cable inside the door seal. The power cable comes up to my plug-in point. The back camera cable goes along the door seal all the way around to the back window. It’s still long enough to come around the top and down the other side.

Specs from the Amazon listing

These come from the Amazon listing title. I didn’t test them myself:

  • REDTIGER F7NP 4K dash cam, front and rear
  • STARVIS 2 sensor
  • Free card included

Who it’s for

Good fit if you: want front and rear recording with GPS and phone access, and you don’t mind tucking cables in the door seals.

Maybe skip it if you: only want a front camera.

Bottom line

I’ve had several dash cams, and this is by far my favorite. I would 100% recommend it, and I’d run one of these in every vehicle I own.
