These are the soft-close hinges I ordered on Amazon. For me, they were a straight switch from my regular hinges. Check that they’ll be a straight replacement for yours before you buy.
What I liked
- Straight swap from my regular hinges
- Soft close. The door takes its time and closes softly.
- No slamming doors

The lesson: you might only need one per door
I replaced both the top and bottom hinges, but honestly, I think the motion would be smoother with just one soft-close hinge. With the generic hinge left up top and a soft-close on the bottom, it wouldn’t have that bounce. It would be more of a premium, smooth close.
On the smaller cabinet doors, with both hinges soft close, there often isn’t enough weight. The door gets stuck partway, and I just push it closed. With one hinge, it would swing smoothly.
To save money, try one soft-close hinge per door first. If you don’t like how it works, change both.
Specs from the Amazon listing
These come from the Amazon listing title. I didn’t test them myself:
- 1/2″ overlay soft close cabinet hinges
- 50 pack (25 pair)
- Concealed, with self-closing damper
- Stainless steel
Bottom line
An easy upgrade, but start with one hinge per door.
