These are some pretty cool vents we found on Amazon. They use a linear diffuser design, and we ended up changing every single vent in the house to this style.
Adjustable airflow
You can adjust the little black dividers to open or close them, so your airflow goes out sideways one way or the other, or straight down.
Sizes and the return vent
They come in different sizes for standard vent sizes. We have a big return vent too. On the return I could hear a lot of airflow noise, so I took out all the internals to make it more free-flowing. It’s a return, so I don’t need to direct the air.
The install
This is the part I’ll warn you about. I did the install myself. Generic builder vents are a pretty loose fit, so the ductwork doesn’t have to be as accurate, but these are a much tighter fit. With ductwork that wasn’t perfectly square, I had to bend things out of the way and tap it in with a hammer, and it was a bit challenging to get the vents in. It took me a lot longer than I expected, and there were some frustrations.
The install screws in from the sides, with a screw on each side. That’s why there are no visible screws on the face.
Bottom line
Once they’re in, they look very nice. It’s a clean, sleek, modern look, just plan for a harder install.
