I’ve been using this CLEO HOME copper water bottle for the past three to four months. It’s made out of pure copper, and it’s everything you’d expect from a copper water bottle.
I’d recommend it, but there are a few things to keep in mind before you buy one. Copper is a soft metal, it doesn’t keep drinks cold and the thread can squeak. Here’s what months of use looks like.
Quick take
- Pure copper, and it comes with a certification
- In the box: a cleaning brush and a little carrying pouch with a shoulder strap
- Taste: I can taste a small difference having it be a raw copper bottle
- The catch: it dents easily, cold drinks won’t stay cold and the bottle sweats
- Plus a copper-on-copper thread that can squeak when you unscrew it
What I liked
Pure copper, with the extras
It’s made out of pure copper and it does come with a certification. It also comes with a brush and a little carrying pouch with a shoulder strap.
I can taste the difference
I can taste a small difference having it be a raw copper water bottle. After three to four months, I’ve had no real issues aside from the cosmetic.
Things to know before you buy
- Discoloration is normal. When you wash it, they say to use some lemon juice to help break it up. You will see a little bit of discoloration, which is natural for copper.
- Copper is soft. I’ve dropped mine a few times and it bent very easily. It doesn’t stand perfectly straight anymore, but it still works. If you drop it, it may dent.
- It won’t keep drinks cold. Copper conducts heat very well, so if you put anything cold in it, don’t expect it to stay cold for long, and your bottle will sweat.
- The thread can squeak. It’s copper on copper, so when you unscrew it you can get a metallic squeaking sound, sort of like nails on a chalkboard on occasion. That can make some people cringe.

What I didn’t cover
I didn’t measure how long drinks stay cool or warm, and I didn’t test it for leaks. I’m not going to make any health claims about copper either. This is just how the bottle has held up for me.
Install notes
Nothing to install. For cleaning, they recommend some lemon juice, and the included brush helps.
Specs from the Amazon listing
These come from the Amazon listing title. I didn’t test them myself:
- 100% pure copper
- 32 oz
- Hammered finish
- Canvas bag and cleaning brush included
- Listed as leak-proof
Who it’s for
Good fit if you: want a pure copper bottle, like the taste and don’t mind it picking up some character over time.
Maybe skip it if you: want cold drinks to stay cold, or you drop your bottle a lot and want it to stay perfect.
Bottom line
Other than the cosmetic issues, I’ve had no real problems with it in three to four months. Just keep in mind that it’s a softer metal and it may dent if you drop it. I would recommend it as a water bottle.
