HOOFUS Mechanical Door Stopper Review: Click to Hold, No Drill

HOOFUS mechanical floor door stopper holding a white door open on a tile floor

Heads up: this post contains affiliate links, and I may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you.

This little door holder is one of the coolest Amazon finds I’ve had to date. It’s the HOOFUS mechanical floor door stopper, and it holds a door open with a simple click.

The door I put it on is prone to swinging open, and it’s the one going in and out of my garage where I carry groceries. Now I just click it in place and click again to release.

Quick take

  • No drilling on the floor. The floor piece went on my tiles with adhesive.
  • Mechanical click holds the door open, and another click releases it
  • Height adjustable, so you can dial it in to fit your door
  • Adhesive or screws for the door piece. I screwed mine in.

What I liked

The click mechanism

You open the door, the piece on the door slides into the floor piece, and it clicks into a mechanical catch that holds the door in place. Click it again and it lets go. It holds the door open perfectly.

Adjusting the HOOFUS door stopper piece mounted on the bottom of the door
The door piece is height adjustable.

No drilling into my tile

The floor piece just went on with adhesive, so I didn’t have to drill into my tiles.

Height adjustable

The piece on the door adjusts up and down, so you can make sure it lines up and clicks into the mechanism.

Things to know before you buy

  • I screwed in the door piece. It does have an adhesive option, but I screwed it in because I wanted to make sure it held strong.
  • It’s a click to hold, click to release design, not a magnet. (The listing calls it a no-magnetic design.)

What I didn’t cover

This is a short video, so I didn’t get into how it holds up over the long term or how it does on carpet or other floors.

Specs from the Amazon listing

These come from the Amazon listing title. I didn’t test them myself:

  • HOOFUS no-magnetic mechanical floor door stopper, adjustable door holder
  • For door gaps up to 0.75 inch in height
  • Nail free or screws
  • Matte brushed nickel, 1 pack

Who it’s for

Good fit if you: have a door that keeps swinging closed, carry stuff through it a lot, or don’t want to drill into tile.

Maybe skip it if you: just need a basic wedge or bumper style stop.

Bottom line

A simple addition with a super cool mechanism. Like I said, it’s one of the coolest Amazon finds I’ve had.
