40W Remote-Control LED Ceiling Light Review: Replaces a Fan or Fixture

Holding the remote under the 40W LED flush-mount ceiling light

This is an LED light I got on Amazon to replace my main ceiling light, which was a fan. Everything about it is controlled from the remote.

Where it fits

It mounts to a standard ceiling light box. Anywhere a fan or a regular ceiling light was, it will work. Not a can light, but a regular light.

40W LED ceiling light dimmed in a dark room
Dimmed way down from the remote.

What I liked

  • Brightness and dimming on the remote
  • Adjustable color temperature (K value), from much warmer to much colder
  • Easy on and off buttons
  • Day and night modes. Night mode takes it pretty dim.
  • An app is available, but I like that I don’t need it

The catch: no wall dimmer

Because it’s a remote control unit, it will not work with a wall dimmer switch. You’ll want a simple on/off switch, and all the brightness and dimming happens on the remote.

Specs from the Amazon listing

These come from the Amazon listing title. I didn’t test them myself:

  • Modern LED flush mount ceiling light
  • 40W, 2600 lumens
  • Dimming remote control
  • Matte black (S)

Bottom line

A good upgrade from a ceiling fan or old fixture, as long as you’re fine using a remote instead of a wall dimmer.
