This is the SKB hard shell golf carry case I use for my clubs. This is the medium size, and the main question is whether your bag will fit.
Below is a walkthrough of the latches, wheels, clamshell interior, and how my Sun Mountain walking bag sits inside — plus the size-up caveat if your bag is very large.
I bought this case myself.
Quick take
- Medium SKB hard-shell golf carry case with three latches and a lock on the middle latch
- Two handles and two wheels so you can pull it along
- Side bump on the medium size for a slightly bigger golf bag
- Clamshell open with a padded area at the top for club heads
- The catch: my other bag was a bit big on the bottom for the medium; a very large bag means you probably want to size up
What I liked
Latches, handles, and wheels
You have three latches, and it has a lock on that middle latch. It comes with a handle, a second handle on the other side, and the case itself is on two wheels so you pull it along.
Medium-size side bump
Being the medium size, it has a little bump on the side to allow for a slightly bigger golf bag. That contour is what I point out when the case is on its side.
Clamshell open with padded club-head area
The latches pull in to open, and it opens like a clamshell. On the inside you have a padded area at the top for your club heads. It also comes with keys.
Standard Sun Mountain bag fits
With the standard Sun Mountain bag, all my clubs with the club covers fit. The case closes like a clamshell, clips down, and that is secure with my golf bag. Drop your bag in, close it up, and you’re good to go.

Things to know before you buy
- My other bag was a little bit big on the bottom end for the medium case, so I ended up getting a smaller Sun Mountain bag as a more portable walking bag.
- If you do have a very large golf bag, you probably want to size up.
- This is a fit walkthrough, not an airline or drop test. I show how it opens, what fits, and how it closes.
What I didn’t cover
I didn’t rate TSA or ATA performance, and I didn’t run airline or impact tests on camera. Those kinds of claims on the listing are listing text only. I also didn’t measure interior dimensions or compare every soft travel bag on the market.
Install notes
Open the three latches (they pull in), lay the case open like a clamshell, set your bag in with the club heads toward the padded top, close it, and clip the latches down. Use the handles and two wheels to pull it along. Keys come with it for the middle lock.
Specs from the Amazon listing
These come from the Amazon listing title. I didn’t test them myself:
- Size: Medium (listing)
- Hard shell plastic golf travel case (listing)
- 2 wheels (listing)
- TSA locking latches (listing text — not tested or claimed in the video)
Who it’s for
Good fit if you: want a medium hard-shell golf carry case with latches, wheels, and a padded club-head area, and you’re packing something around a standard Sun Mountain walking bag with club covers.
Maybe skip it if you: have a very large golf bag or a bag that is big on the bottom end — in that case you probably want to size up from the medium.
Bottom line
This medium SKB hard shell golf carry case has three latches with a lock on the middle one, two handles, two wheels, a side bump for a slightly bigger bag, and a padded clamshell top for club heads. My other bag was a bit big on the bottom for the medium, so I use a smaller Sun Mountain walking bag. With that standard bag and club covers, everything fits, it closes securely, and you’re good to go — size up if yours is very large.
