This air purifier from Amazon is the real deal. It’s mostly been running in auto mode, and it reacts fast when the air gets worse.

What I liked

  • Touch buttons with modes like night mode and auto
  • Air quality light and number. Red is poor, then yellow, then green with a single-digit number when it’s running normally.
  • Fast response. I’d been grilling and opened the door, some smoke came in, and it immediately picked it up, ramped up the fan, and started purifying.
  • Essential oil cup on the side, so it also works as a diffuser

It sits right in the corner.

A bonus: an AC filter check

I have a timer to change my AC filter every few months. But I noticed that as the filter got close to needing a change, the purifier wasn’t sitting in green as much. It was spending a lot of time in the yellow range. I checked the AC filter, it was dirty, I replaced it, and the purifier went right back to staying green.

Things to know

I haven’t messed with the other modes a whole lot, because it’s just been running in auto.

Specs from the Amazon listing

These come from the Amazon listing title. I didn’t test them myself:

  • KNKA APH4000 air purifier
  • Listed for rooms up to 1,695 sq ft in 1 hr
  • White

Bottom line

It works well, and it doubles as an extra check on your AC filter.
