I absolutely love this Bulova automatic watch with the skeleton face. It’s the Bulova Classic Sutton, and the whole point of it is that you can see the movement working, from the front and from the back. I’ve had mine for about 6 years now and it’s still working perfectly.
Quick take
- Skeleton dial, so you can watch the movement from the front
- Open case back, so you see it from the back too
- Shiny stainless steel band with a lot of small details
- Still working perfectly after about 6 years
- Heads up: it wears large, which is great for a big wrist but maybe not a small one
What I liked
You can see everything working
This is the main reason I bought it. The skeleton face shows the movement right through the front, and with the open back you can see it from behind too. I love the design and all the little intricacies in that skeleton. It also has blue lettering on the dial.

The band
The band is a nice stainless steel with a shiny finish, and it has a lot of intricate little details on it.
It’s held up
I’ve had this watch for 6 years and it’s still working perfectly. That’s the best endorsement I can give it.
Things to know before you buy
- No date. There’s no date or anything else on the dial. It’s all about the skeleton.
- It wears large. I have a larger wrist, so it fits me really well. If you have a smaller wrist, it’s probably going to look a little large on you.
- It’s an automatic. It runs off the movement, not a battery.
Specs from the Amazon listing
These come from the Amazon listing title. I didn’t test them myself:
- Bulova Men’s Classic Sutton, 3-hand, 21-jewel automatic
- 42-hour power reserve
- Skeleton dial with luminous hands
- 100M water resistant
- 43mm case
Who it’s for
Good fit if you: love seeing a mechanical movement, have a larger wrist, and want a dressy stainless watch that’s lasted me years.
Maybe skip it if you: want a date window or have a smaller wrist.
Bottom line
All in all, I love this watch and I’d recommend it. It’s a great-looking skeleton automatic, and mine has held up for six years.
