This is the Almighty Ruler tape measure from Almighty Tools. I just got it, so these are my first impressions.

It’s a regular 16-foot tape measure and a laser measure in one tool. The laser can measure up to 60 meters, or 190 feet.

Quick take

  • Two tools in one: a 16-foot (5 meter) tape and a laser good for 60 meters (190 feet)
  • Easy to use by yourself. Tap to show the dot, tap again to measure
  • Accurate. I verified it
  • Laser lines mode to see exactly where you’re measuring
  • The catch: it takes two AAA batteries, and they’re not included

What’s in the box

The box comes with a tray for the tape measure, the tape measure itself and a screwdriver at the bottom. The screwdriver is for the battery cover on the back. There’s also a little strap you can put around your wrist.

What I liked

The tape works like a normal tape

The tape measure portion operates just like a regular tape measure. It holds in place automatically, and a push of the button draws it back in.

Laser measuring is simple

Press and hold the measure button to turn the screen on. Tap it once and you’ll see the laser dot on the wall, then tap it again for your measurement.

A little line on the screen shows whether it’s measuring from the front or the back of the tool, and you can change units by pressing and holding a button. There’s also a clear and off button.

Laser lines mode

Press and hold the measure button and it flips to a mode that shows laser lines. It’s a great way to get a feel for exactly where you’re measuring. There’s a timer that shows how long the lines will stay on.

It’s accurate, and you don’t need a helper

My main use is simple: walking into rooms and houses and doing a tap measurement. It’s really easy to do by yourself, you don’t need somebody to hold it, and it’s really accurate. I’ve verified that.

Things to know before you buy

  • Batteries aren’t included. You’ll need two AAA batteries.
  • There are a lot of modes. The manual covers continuous measurement with minimum and maximum, volume, add and subtract, area and several Pythagorean methods. I don’t know how much I’d use those.
  • These are first impressions. I just got it.

What I didn’t cover

I only showed simple tap measurements and laser lines. I didn’t test the volume, area or Pythagorean modes, or battery life.

Install notes

Open the back with the included screwdriver and put in two AAA batteries.

Who it’s for

Good fit if you: measure rooms on your own and want a laser and a tape in one tool.

Maybe skip it if you: only ever need a basic tape measure.

Bottom line

I’m really excited to add this to the toolbox. It can do a lot more than I’ll probably use, but quick tap measurements on my own are exactly what I got it for.
