Flying Delta One to South Africa: Is It Worth the Upgrade?

On my recent journey from Atlanta to Johannesburg, I flew in Delta One, Delta’s flagship business class service — and it made a world of difference on a 15+ hour flight.

From the moment you check in, the experience feels elevated. Priority boarding, access to the Delta Sky Club, and a seamless boarding process set the tone. Once onboard, I was welcomed with a drink and shown to my lie-flat seat, which offers privacy, plenty of space, and a large entertainment screen — a big upgrade from the cramped coach cabins many of us are used to.

During the flight, I enjoyed multi-course meals, premium wine selections, and attentive service throughout. The bedding setup, including a real pillow and blanket, made it possible to get some actual sleep — which is key when landing in a new time zone.

In my video, I give you a full look at the Delta One cabin, meals and entertainment system.
